Getting myself pumped for my cohort this weekend!

Good day to you! Hope all are having a wonderful day. I myself started off a little on the rocky side. The power had been off for all of 10 hours with no updates from the electric company. You’d call, it would ring once, pick up & drop the call. They just knew. 🤣 To a web developer losing the electricity is like being, stuck out at sea on a life raft.

I didn’t hesitate for 1 sec. when those lights flipped on. I dove headfirst into my studies and today I decided to spend a few hours working with HTML canvas. I’ve always been fascinated with how you can write out in code art, images, and even use functions and events to develop games literally from scratch. That’s what I chose. Since I’m familiar with games, I went with what I know best.

Beginning of my canvas

It’s a simple game. Going to be a game where you pop bubbles. lol It honestly was pretty mindless setting it up at first. Getting the index and stylesheet with the body/canvas first squared away with the basics. Then it was onto the interesting part. The Java Script. The functionality of the code! The meat and potatoes!!!

I split it into 5 sections. Canvas Setup, Mouse Interactivity, Player, Bubbles, & Animation Loop. It was a lot of trial and error. I took it to step by step though. Sizing my canvas. Walking the mouse clicks step by step, onto how then the player should react and making sure the console logs everything in the process so I could find any bugs if they should arise. Trust me, they did! lol 😂

I had this grand notion that I’d sit down and blast through this project no problem but, boy was I wrong. I gave it a good few hours and say made it halfway. I still got to finish up the polished aspects of it. I should have it done and hopefully up on my site by tomorrow night. Check on back, you’ll dig it! I’m loving learning it all! Can’t wait to really create and deliver something great to the public in the near future! Thanks again for the love and support. Follow and subscribe! Much love and aloha
